Class of '71 |
Hank Turowski grew up in an ethic neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland.
He attended Parochial school and the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute
before being appointed to the Naval Academy. He graduated from Annapolis
in 1971 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and in 1980 received a
Master's Degree in Financial Management from the Naval Postgraduate
School in Monterey, California. After graduation from Annapolis, Hank
served in the USS Rupertus, DD-851 in Vietnam and Westpac, then attended
Flight School in Pensacola, Florida. In 1973 he transferred to the Civil
Engineer Corps, and performed various engineering, design, and construction
responsibilities throughout the world, including, the Naval Station at
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; the Weapons Station at Yorktown, Virginia; the
Public Works Center on Guam, Marianas Islands; the NATO Naval Air
Station in Sigonella, Sicily; and the Engineering Field Division and the
Naval Base in San Diego, California. He retired from the Navy in 1991.
Following military retirement, Hank managed construction projects in
Saudi Arabia, where he wrote Plebe and Infidels. In 1994, he moved to
the Seattle, WA. area where he has worked for environmental, Y2K consulting,
construction, and construction management companies. He is the President of a
project management consulting company.
Hank has also written three books of gripping and unusual Short Stories
as well as several Screen Plays and script synopsis for a Television Series.
He has two sons: Hank Junior, a computer whiz, is a PhD student in Colorado and
entrepreneur in Colorado; and Patrick, who lives in Maryland.
